More...Do you see raccoons visiting your trash cans at night? Or find something digging in your garden but not sure what it is? It can be a raccoon.
Along with the annoyance, raccoons serve as vectors for a variety of diseases including ticks, flees, raccoon round worm, and rabies. In addition, huge amounts of raccoon feces will rapidly accumulate in your attic. Raccoons breed once a year and give birth in the spring having as many as seven young per litter. Trapping adults is easy enough but extracting the young can be quite a challenge. Often we use the mother to coax out her young. Once the family has been evicted, all possible entrances are sealed.
Found in the small intestines of virtualy every raccoon. The eggs are shed in the raccoon's feces and, if ingested, will hatch in the stomach and untimely migrate through the body often making its way into the brain where it can cause massive neurological damage.
Although the incidents of any of these disease are quite rare, but the possibility does exist.
Raccoons are clever and adaptive mammals are fond of living in attics and chimneys, as well as knocking over your trash cans for a free meal.
Most litters of raccoons contain two to five babies, known as "kits" or "cubs". Raccoon kits or cubs are born very lightly furred, with a faint mask. They weigh three to five ounces and 4-6 inches long with 2-2 1/4 inch tail. We will make every effort to retrieve the babies from the attic and send them to an animal rehabilitator.
If you suspect raccoon family is nesting on the property, you should contact professional wildlife removal services. Trying to forcibly remove mama and baby raccoons may lead to injury or the transmission of disease.
We trapped, relocated and excluded thousands of raccoons. Call us today and we will be on our way to help. If raccoons invaded your attic and defocated in your insulation we can remove old dirty insulation and put a foam skin on the attic floor to seal all cracks and blow in fresh insulation.
